The Cloud Catcher

An illustrated children's story that captures the imagination and sparks joy in young readers

The Idea | I had the pleasure of illustrating a story about a chubby fellow who captures clouds in his flying balloon, battles thunderclouds and confronts an evil witch in an enchanted castle. My intention was to create illustrations that evoke an unfinished children's drawing, using pastels with bold left-to-right strokes.

The greatest delight undoubtedly came from seeing the joy on the children's faces as they read the story. In addition to that, I am really happy to be able to add value by showcasing locations that hold a special place in my heart, the very spots where I spent my childhood in my village, the rolling hills of my hometown, and the birds that were once my beloved pets.

Furthermore, I am genuinely thrilled to have played a part in Marlène’s (author's) happiness. After 30 years, she has finally published a book, leaving a beautiful legacy for her sons. Immerse yourself in the story and experience it for yourself.

Joyful readers and fandom

The initial release was circulated amongst family and friends, and it was made available in Dutch, English, and Serbian languages.

The Feedback | Children who read or heard the story from their mothers and grandparents said that they enjoyed it, especially the part where a man flies in his colorful balloon and saves birds from angry thunderclouds. They also said that even though clouds can sometimes be upset, with enough love and hugs, everything can become better! :)
